What features does Decidim offer?
You can think of the Decidim software as a construction kit. All organizations operating on the platform have the possibility to choose from different building blocks those functions which are useful for their individual purposes. The most important functions on MeinQuartier.Zuerich are:
Pages: With the page building block, information can be presented. Analogous to a classic website, this is done via texts, images, videos and links. Files (e.g. PDF) can also be uploaded.
Blogs: In order to report on news or to pass on exciting knowledge, the blog module can be used. Analogous to the page module, information can be captured using images, text, videos and links. The blog posts are then displayed chronologically.
Events: In the events building block, analog or digital meetings, information events, events, etc. can be recorded. These are displayed on a map and are searchable by keywords. There is also the option to hold video conferences directly on the platform.
Debates: Analogous to a discussion forum, the debate module can be used to enable topic-specific exchange. It can be decided whether users can start new discussions themselves or whether they can only talk about topics defined by the organization.
Surveys: Surveys can also be implemented directly on the platform. It is possible to choose between different question types. This is the only module that can also be used by non-registered users.
Suggestions: The suggestion module is a core function of Decidim. With this module suggestions from the population can be collected, discussed and voted on. It is also possible to use it to work together on texts (e.g. an initiative text). In addition, it is possible to implement consultations of texts with it.
There are other functions that we could use in the future. At decidim.org/modules/ you can have a look at all modules developed for Decidim so far.
